Minnie Mouse Party Preview

The Party Decor
(more decor and invitations to follow)
I had so much fun planning this party! I love the way it all turned out!
I saw this idea somewhere on the blogosphere to use a big plate and 2 small plates to make Mickey. Naturally I added the bow to make it Minnie. For each Boy, all their party supplies were Mickey and all the girls were blinged out for Minnie.

Birthday Girl with Minnie Mouse

To make this frame I bought the wood shape at hobby lobby in the unfinished wood section. I scored this 30% off but it was only $2.99 to begin with. Darling way to decorate. I painted it with acrylic craft paint, stained it to bring out the color, and sprayed it with a matte finish. Then I bought a magnetic clip (they come in a pack of four for 1.88 at Walmart) and hot glued it on. Tied ribbon in a bow and hot glued that to the clip. I always like a border around my pictures so I put white cardstock behind this 4x6 photo. Love the idea to spotlight your birthday girl (or boy!)

Personalized drinks and Party bags
These bottles you get at walmart or anywhere that sells the starbucks frappucino jars. I love the new striped straw trend. The names we designed in photoshop by my amazing sister. The bags and ears were bought at a store all the way in Utah called Pebbles in My Pocket. Cute napkins to match are really easy to find!

Minnie Birthday Cake

After running out of 2 ingredients, breaking the mixer, and replacing 4 icing bags for cupcakes (scooping the icing out each time) I managed to begin the cake. I did two 9 inch round cakes and 2 6 inch round cakes (cut off the tops so they were all level) and froze them. Then I made frosting and put raw edges together with icing. Iced the rest of the cake and then came the fondant. My husband did the fondant because my hands were pink from dying the cupcake frosting. He rolled the Wilton's Pre-made fondant from Hobby Lobby and set it on the bottom level of iced cakes. Smoothing it over can be hard but a trick from my friend Adrienne shared is that you roll it out so it covers 3 more inches than the cake and set the cake up high so you can work with it better. Then we added pink dye to a small amount of white fondant to create the top layer. I added ribbon to the bottoms of both layers (securing it with crisco along the way). This cake plate I bought from Costco. They come in a pack for 2 for $20 and I am obsessed with them. I bought a sheet of glittery foam from hobby lobby, traced a circle the size I wanted (2 for each ear), and cut the ears (not even a 1/4 inch) along the bottom so they would sit on top of the cake when I put them on. I put 2 circles together with a toothpick in between (hot glue works wonders). I LOVE the way the cake turned out!!!

Birthday Girl Banner
This banner was also made in photoshop by my sister. I absolutely love it! I made another picture frame to display a picture of our family in front of a Mickey Mouse Ferris Wheel at California Adventure. Happy Birthday to my sweet Julia.
